2. OpenOffice.org 1.0 
   Windows, Linux, Mac, Solaris
   I really like MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel but if you can get it for free ... hmmm.  The product is a multi-platform office productivity suite. It includes the key desktop applications, such as a word processor, spreadsheet, presentation manager, and drawing program, with a user interface and feature set similar to other office suites’. Sophisticated and flexible, OpenOffice.org also works transparently with a variety of file formats, including those of Microsoft Office. Schools are using it, businesses are using it. And they love it. Can save documents in the XML format.

3. Internet Explorer
   Internet Explorer 5.0
   Even if you already have Netscape Navigator, it is worth downloading Explorer. Explorer is slower but tends to crash less. It is also a good idea if you are developing a web site to be able to view your final product in both Navigator and Explorer, the world's two most popular Internet browsers. Different default settings and interpretation of HTML code can produce slightly different page formats.
   

4. Eudora Pro 4.3
   E-mail program
   Considered by many to be the world's best email program, this full-featured email program is now being offered FREE. The free version includes an advertising banner (they've got to make some money), and tends to hog system resources. But it's a great program. No if's, and's or but's. Access to free PDF manuals as well.

5. Business Letters

   The SBA contains a collection of eight .zip files (in it's "Running a Business" section) which contain 600 sample business letters for almost any kind of business correspondance. 6. CoffeeCup Free FTP
   Win98, WinNT, Win2K, ME (Version 1.00)
   I use to use CuteFTP. A great little program, but now no longer free. CoffeeCup is pretty good too though, but you can't edit files. You can setup up an unlimited number of FTP accounts, resume broken downloads and transfer files in binary, ASCII or auto-mode. Better than WS-FTP.

    AOLPress (WYSIWYG HTML Editor)
    This FREE program is distributed by America Online. PC Magazine (Feb. 97) rated it second to Microsoft's Front page (US$150). The new 2.0 version is a little faster than the older 1.2.2 version and now supports frames. An Adobe Acroread manual is also available for download. Available for Windows 3.1/95 and Mac.
